Voice Of Westcoast  Val Young

Val Young(Lady V)(ヴァル・ヤング)は George Clinton に見いだされた後、Gap Band や Rick James といった Soul/Funk の大御所たちのバックメンバーやコーラスを経た後、California にてどういう経緯があったのかは知りませんが 2Pacとの交友を深め、 の数々の作品に起用されてきました。彼女の参加した曲はほぼ間違い なく素晴らしく、Westcoast Gangsta Rap を語る上では忘れてはいけない存在となっています。また、彼女 はオリジナルアルバムも発表していますが、フューチャリングア ーティストとして地位を高めてきたという印象があります。

近年ではあまり表舞台には立っていないようですが、おそらくGap BandのLIVEなどにはちょこちょこ参加していると思われます。

伸びのある歌声は一度聴いたら耳から離れません。彼女はまだ52歳なので、これからも若いアーティストとコラボレーションをし続けて行ってほしいと思います。

彼女の若い頃の声と、2Pacとフューチャーしだした頃の声が全然違うので驚かれる方もおられるかと思います。若いころはかわいくていいですけど、年齢を重ねた後の方が温かみと渋さがあってかっこいいですね。
